PSNI offers training to individuals at all stages of employment—from High School Transition to Career Advancement our customized employment training is built around the needs and preferences of the individual. Our Employment Specialists work with the individual and the employer to build a training plan that meets the needs of both the individual and the business where they are working.
Community Employment Services
Community Employment Services focus on training job seeking and keeping skills needed for successful employment in the community. This program is for people who want to work and need assistance in finding the right match for their skills and abilities. We offer a variety of services designed to assist the individual and the employer in a successful partnership.
- Community Based Work Evaluation is a service designed to access an individual’s assets and limitations as they relate to accessing and maintaining competitive employment. Evaluation services are appropriate for individuals who have little or no work history, or individuals who have recently become disabled, or individuals who are having significant problems maintaining competitive employment.
- Community Based Work Adjustment is a short term training program designed for individuals with identifiable and addressable barriers to employment. Training plans are developed which facilitate positive changes in work related kills, habits, attitudes, motivation, confidence and social skills.
- Placement and Follow-Along is a short term program designed to provide individualized placement and support for both the participant and employer. Follow-along can be extremely important to ensure that the job is successful and secure. Follow-along services can assist in resolving any job problems that may occur prior to case closure.
- Community Supported Employment is a program designed for individuals with developmental disabilities, traumatic brain injury, severe learning disabilities, or mental illness who have demonstrated an inability to access or maintain employment without intensive ongoing support.
Eligibility Requirements
Individuals must:
- Be at least 18 years old
- Be referred for services by Idaho Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (IDVR)
- Have a documented disability that is considered to be a barrier to competitive employment
These disabilities can include but are not limited to: Physical Disabilities, Intellectual Disabilities, Mental Illness, Traumatic Brain Injury, Significant Learning Disability - Have a funding source (IDVR, Private Pay)
- Have appropriate documentation to verify identity and authorization to be employed in the United States
Work Services – Center Based Training
Work Services is a program which provides support, vocational training and paid employment to adults with significant disabilities. Our center-based Work Services program is focused on training and supporting individuals that want to work but are not ready for community employment. This program is designed for individuals who have either been unable to maintain competitive employment or need to gain more experience prior to community employment.

Individuals must:
- Be at least 18 years old
- Be referred for services by Idaho Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (IDVR)
- Have a documented disability that is considered to be a barrier to competitive employment

High School Work Experience
PSNI’s High School Work Experience program is designed to provide students with disabilities a variety of work experiences in their community. As a part of their school day these students earn school credit by participating in the different types of employment offered in our community.
Eligibility Requirements
Individuals must:
- Be at least 16 years old
- Be a Junior or Senior in High School with an IEP for work experience
- Be referred for services by LPO School District, West Bonner County School District or Idaho Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (IDVR)
- Have a funding source (School District, IDVR, Private Pay)
